Glorifying The Father

A short thought.

Do you remember these words of Jesus?

Joh 15:8
In this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit, so you shall be My disciples.

For some time I understood that phrase as the Father receiving praise (or glory) when His children obeyed Him. As if our walking in His will added glory to which He already has.

Then one day I considered the glory of God in more detail and I realized that the glory of a person is not a different word to FAME. A person's fame grows when due to different reasons other people praise or honor and follow him. It is like a mantle with which others cover him. But with the glory it is the opposite, -the glory irradiates from inside of the person that has it!

Jesus is saying here that those denying themselves in order to do His Father's will -shall show the Father because His glory will irradiate through them!

That is what Jesus did.

Joh 14:9
"Philip said to Him, Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us".

To what the Lord answered:

Joh 14:9
"Have I been with you such a long time and yet you have not known Me, Philip?
He who has seen Me has seen the Father."

"A disciple is not above his master,..." (Mat. 10:24), but we are called to be like Him!

And I learned that the obedience to His will is not to increase His fame.

It is to allow HIM to be seen.
